SO, I WOULD LIKE TO SUMMARIZE, FOR PEOPLE THAT AREN'T AWARE, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN IN PLACE FOR QUITE A LONG TIME, BUT THE TOURISM SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR A LONG TIME, IF YOU'VE LIVED IN NEW ALBANY, A LONG, LONG TIME, THERE WERE NO HOTELS. AND THEN WHEN THE HOTELS STARTED TO BE BUILT, THE CITY ENTERED AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CHAMBER TO, ADMINISTER SOME OF THE, TOURISM ACTIVITY. AS THAT GREW, AND A SUMMARY OF THE AGREEMENT AND HOW THAT MONEY IS SPENT IS BASICALLY TO AND IT'S NOT UNIQUE TO NEW ALBANY. IT'S THE SAME IN LAS VEGAS OR MONTREAL. WE WANT PEOPLE TO COME TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE WANT THEM TO STAY IN OUR HOTELS AND EAT IN OUR RESTAURANTS AND FREQUENT OUR BUSINESSES AND SHOP IN OUR SHOPS AND BUY GOODS AND SERVICES FROM BUSINESSES IN NEW ALBANY. SO, SO THAT TRANSIENT TAX FROM OUR HOTELS IS COLLECTED BY THE CITY OF NEW ALBANY, AND 25% OF IT IS GOES TO THE CHAMBER. AND THEN WE SPEND IT IN THESE SPECIFIC WAYS TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO VISIT NEW ALBANY. AND WE WORK WITH THE [00:05:03] CITIES TEAMS THAT ARE IN PLACE, TO COMPLEMENT ANY EFFORTS SUCH AS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OR BUSINESS RETENTION AS WELL, WE'RE NOT UNIQUE. LEARNED A LOT SINCE STARTING TO DO THIS. AND ONE OF THEM IS THAT, THERE'S QUITE A FEW CHAMBERS THAT ARE IN TOWNS THAT ARE NOT QUITE BIG ENOUGH, OR COUNTIES THAT ARE NOT QUITE POPULATED ENOUGH TO HAVE A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND A SEPARATE CVB CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU OR, VISITOR CENTER, TOURISM BUREAU, THEY'RE JUST KNOWN AS TOURISM CHAMBERS. AND I PUT SOME EXAMPLES OF OTHER TOURISM CHAMBERS, WE SHARE A LOT OF BEST PRACTICES. SO THE HOTEL CHAIN, I'M GOING TO JUST KIND OF GO ON THROUGH THIS AND FIGURE YOU GUYS WILL ASK ME QUESTIONS AT THE END. SO TOURISM SERVICES, I DID A COUPLE OF CHARTS HERE TO SHOW YOU HOW THAT'S COLLECTED. IT'S NO SURPRISE THAT IT'S BUSIER IN THE SUMMER AND IT HEADS OFF. IT STAYS PRETTY STEADY THROUGHOUT THE FALL AND THEN DROPS IN DECEMBER. THAT'S BEEN PRETTY CONSISTENT. AND WHILE HOTELS, WHICH WE DO KEEP IN VERY CLOSE CONTACT WITH OUR HOTELS, WE WANT TO KNOW HOW THEY'RE DOING, WHAT THEY WANT, WHAT THEIR PAIN POINTS ARE, WHAT'S MAKING THEM HAPPY, WHAT THEY WISH, WAS HAPPENING, THOSE SORTS OF THINGS, AND THEY DON'T REALLY SHARE THEIR OCCUPANCY RATES OR WHO STAYS IN THEIR HOTELS. BUT A COUPLE OF THINGS YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT THE BUSINESS TRAVEL, ESPECIALLY WITH THE GROWING BUSINESS COMMUNITY. BUT THERE'S QUITE A LOT OF MEDICAL RELATED STAYS IN OUR HOTELS, TOO, WE'RE SO FORTUNATE TO LIVE IN FRANKLIN COUNTY AND BE CLOSE TO, A LOT OF HOSPITALS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER, SOME PEOPLE DRIVE TWO HOURS. SO EVEN IF YOU'RE HAVING A PROCEDURE OR MAYBE YOU'RE ELDERLY, WIFE OR MOTHER IS HAVING A PROCEDURE THAT'S IN AND OUT IN A DAY. YOU MIGHT COME EARLY AND SPEND THE NIGHT IN OUR HOTELS AND STAY, AND GET UP EARLY OR STAY THE NIGHT BEFORE DRIVING BACK HOME. SO THIS IS GENERALLY THE, THE PROPOSED LAYOUT OF, OF MARKET STREET EXTENSION, THIS THIS IS REYNOLDSBURG, NEW ALBANY ROAD. THIS IS MARKET STREET CURRENTLY TERMINATES. AT REYNOLDSBURG NEW ALBANY ROAD. SO WE DO GET CREDIT FOR WHAT THE BASE WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN. SO IF WE'RE REPLACING, LET'S SAY WE'RE GOING TO HAVE GRANITE CURB AND THEN WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN CONCRETE CURB, WE DO REAP THE BENEFIT OF THE VALUE OF THE CONCRETE CURB THAT WOULD BE NON PERFORMED. IT'S A MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT WHICH HAS ABOUT 450 UNITS CURRENTLY BEING PROPOSED, THAT, NEW ALBANY-PLAIN LOCAL SCHOOLS HAS A SELF-IMPOSED RESTRICTION ON RESIDENTIAL, AND THEY'RE CONSIDERING LIFTING THAT RESTRICTION IN ORDER TO ENJOY, WHAT WOULD BE A $17 MILLION TAX INCENTIVE, WITH, HOPEFULLY A LOW IMPACT ON THE STUDENTS AS 400 OF THE 450 UNITS THEY ARE PROPOSING , BETWEEN 35 AND 50 STUDENTS USING, SOME METRICS, LIKE THE SUCCESSFUL, MARKETED MAIN PROJECT, WHICH HAD A VERY LOW YIELD OF STUDENTS, THEY ALSO REPORTED ON THE, PLAIN LOCAL TEACHER UNION, THEY REACHED A SETTLEMENT THAT WOULD ADD TWO TEACHER WORKDAYS AND CHANGE THE CALENDAR FOR, SUPERINTENDENT SAWYERS SAID AT LEAST FOUR TIMES THAT THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE IN THE START DATE, SO THAT'S GOOD. EVERYTHING. BUT THEY WILL HAVE TO ADD IN TO, NON-STUDENT ATTENDANCE DAYS, THEY GAVE AN UPDATE ON THE PLANS FOR A NEW SCHOOL BUILDING. SO THE PLAN IS TO PUT A NEW SCHOOL BUILDING ON THE VARSITY BASEBALL FIELD. AS OF NOW, IT WILL BE A NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT WILL, HOUSE TWO GRADES, THAT WOULD BE A THOUSAND STUDENTS. SO THEY'RE BASICALLY GOING TO HAVE EVERY GRADE UNTIL HIGH SCHOOL BE, TO EVERY BUILDING HAS TWO GRADES, AND THE CURRENT PROJECTIONS THAT WILL COME ONLINE IN 2027, FINAL PLANS GOING TO COME IN THE JUNE MEETING. THEY ALSO WENT OVER, AND THEY DISCUSSED THE RELOCATION OF THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS BEEN SOMETHING THE CITY HAS BEEN WORKING ON WITH THEM, THEY WENT OVER THE FIVE YEAR FINANCIAL FORECAST AND, SOME EXCITING PLANS FOR, TRAVEL, KIND OF STUDY ABROAD AND FIELD TRIPS.
