WHEN LAST I WAS HERE, I HAD SHARED THAT, AS A BOARD, WE WERE WORKING WITH OUR GROUP TO REALLY FOCUS ON NARROWING DOWN THE SCOPE OF HEALTHY NEW ALBANY SO THAT WE COULD BE A STRONGER ORGANIZATION. I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO READ THIS, BUT WE HAVE GONE THROUGH AN EXERCISE WHERE WE FOCUS ON FOUR LANES. NATURE NOURISH KNOWLEDGE AND MOVEMENT, AND REALLY PROVIDING SERVICES FOR THE COMMUNITY WITH THE IDEA THAT WE ARE SUPPORTING THIS, HEALTH IN THE COMMUNITY, THAT ANYTHING YOU DO, WE HAVE A CULTURE OF HEALTH HERE IN NEW ALBANY. AND SO WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE, I'LL WALK YOU THROUGH A LITTLE BIT. SO OUR NATURE PROGRAMS, WE PROVIDE PROGRAMS. A LOT OF THEM ARE FOR CHILDREN, WE HAVE ALSO DONE GUEST PROGRAMING, SUCH AS WALK WITH A DOC AND [00:05:05] OTHER PROGRAMS. BUT THESE ARE REALLY FOCUSED ON UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATING THAT, NATURE IS PART OF WHAT BRINGS HEALTH TO PEOPLE. AND WORKING WITH THE CITY. AND VERY MUCH YOU'LL SEE THAT THAT HITS WITH NATURE AND NOURISH WITH TAYLOR FARM PARK. I WAS JUST THERE LAST EVENING. IT'S LOVELY AND WE'VE DONE SOME PROGRAMING THERE AND RIGHT HERE IN ROSE RUN. AND SO, WE HAVE DONE A SERVICED OVER 300 RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY, REALLY, WE EVEN DID SOME WINTER ONES, BUT THAT'S LARGELY BEEN THIS SUMMER, OUR COMMUNITY GARDEN, WE HAVE 45 PURCHASED PLOTS, WHICH ARE THE ONES RIGHT HERE. AND THEN WE HAVE, 86 PLOTS. I THINK SOME OF THEM ARE GOING TO, GOING TO BE COMBINED THAT NEXT SUMMER, WILL BE PURCHASED PLOTS THIS SUMMER. OUR DEMONSTRATION PLOTS AT TAYLOR FARM AND, TWO TOWER GARDENS THAT WE WORK WITH, THE SCHOOL. SO THAT'S LIKE GROWING THINGS ON THOSE INDOOR HYDROPONIC PIECES WITH OVER 100 PARTICIPATING GARDENERS AND, 100 PARTICIPATING STUDENTS AND ALL OF THE STUDENT WORK AND MANY OF THE DEMONSTRATION WORK, THE THOSE THE PRODUCE THERE GOES TO THE, FOOD PANTRY. SO AGAIN, THE SYNERGIES THERE THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO AND WHAT WE'VE DONE ON THE NATURE PIECE IS REALLY DO MORE FOCUSED PROGRAMING AND HAVE LEANED OUT, ELIMINATING PROGRAMS THAT DIDN'T HAVE FULL PARTICIPATION, I MENTIONED THE FOOD PANTRY, THE FOOD PANTRY HELPED OVER 1300, INDIVIDUALS. THIS IS 2023 NUMBER. SO WE ARE STILL OBVIOUSLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR THIS YEAR, THE FOOD PANTRY IS WORKING VERY HARD WITH THE SCHOOLS, WE ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED IN THE OLDEST BUILDING THAT THE SCHOOL WILL BE TAKING DOWN. SO WE NEED TO BE OUT BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. AND SO WE HAVE A COUPLE OF LEADS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON AND VERY FOCUSED ON MAKING SURE THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OVER 600 STUDENTS IN COMMUNITY IN THE NEW ALBANY, SCHOOLS WHO ARE REFERRED TO US. MANY OF THEM ARE ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS. SO WE DO SOME WRAPAROUND AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THEM. SO, WORKING ON THAT. AND THEN WE ALSO SUPPORT THE DISTRIBUTION LIKE THE MEALS ON WHEELS, IF YOU WILL, TO MANY IN PLAIN TOWNSHIP. AND SO THAT IS A GROWING PROGRAM, HERE. AND AS THE COMMUNITY GROWS, THE MINDSET AROUND THE FOOD PANTRY USED TO BE, YOU KNOW, COME AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND GET YOUR PEANUT BUTTER AND NOW IT IS LET'S OFFER FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES AND FOODS THAT FAMILIES CAN STOP IN BEFORE THEY GO TO THE GROCERY SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE THEIR BUDGET AND EXTEND IT BY GETTING SOME OF THOSE THINGS THAT HAVE BECOME VERY EXPENSIVE EGGS, MILK, CHEESE, AND THEY CAN GET THOSE FOR FREE, AND THEN THEY CAN USE THE, THE REST OF THEIR MONEY FOR THE OTHER VERY EXPENSIVE GROCERIES. SO, THAT'S BEEN AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF GROWING THE FOOD PANTRY, MANY OF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE FARMER'S MARKET. THERE IS ONE ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK. WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH FAIRLY DECENT WEATHER FOR THIS YEAR'S FARMER'S MARKET. LAST WEEK IT RAINED AT THE END OF THE WEEK, THIS YEAR WE ARE SCHEDULED TO HAVE 27 MARKETS, SO THAT'S EVERY WEEK IN THE SUMMER AND THEN MONTHLY IN THE WINTER. WE HAVE OVER 80 VENDORS AND WE HAVE IN THE SUMMER IN PARTICULAR, WE HAVE OVER A THOUSAND WEEKLY, SHOPPERS. SO, IT CONTINUES TO BE OUR MOST POPULAR EVENT. AND, WE'RE VERY HAPPY THAT WE'VE EXPANDED OVER TOWARDS ROSE RUN AND THE REIGNS BRIDGE. THIS YEAR. AND THAT HAS GONE VERY, VERY WELL. SO, EVERYBODY LOVES THE MARKET AND WE'RE PROUD TO BE THE SPONSORS OF THE MARKET, WE DO DO RACES AND EVENTS, THEY BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER AND CREATE THAT MOVEMENT IDEA, BUT THEY ARE ALSO FUNDRAISERS FOR US. MANY HALF OF THOSE ARE IN THE FOOD PANTRY. SO THAT'S AN IMPORTANT THING THAT WE DO, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS BECAUSE OF THE GENEROSITY THAT YOU, THE CITY COUNCIL, PROVIDED IN GIVING US OUR RENT HOLIDAY, WE ARE VERY EXCITED THAT THIS YEAR, ON SEPTEMBER 15TH IS THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WALKING CLASSIC, I REMEMBER WE WERE ACTUALLY MY HUSBAND AND I ARE COMING ON OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF BEING HOMEOWNERS IN NEW ALBANY. AND WE WERE LOOKING AT HOUSES AND ALL THE ROADS WERE CLOSED BECAUSE THERE WAS THIS THING CALLED THE WALKING CLASSIC. AND SO, IT'S REALLY GROWN SINCE THEN, BUT I WOULD BE REMISS IF I DIDN'T TELL YOU THERE ARE STILL SOME HEADWINDS. WE FEEL VERY SOLID ABOUT THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN, WHERE WE'RE GOING, BUT, IT IS, WALK REGISTRATIONS ARE BELOW WHAT WE HAD HOPED. AND WE'RE STILL GOING TO GIVE A BIG PUSH UNTIL SEPTEMBER. BUT I THINK I SHARED IN DECEMBER THAT, PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR A WALK.
