AND IT WENT OVER TO SEE IF THE TAXES HAD BEEN PAID ON THE COMMUNITY CENTER. AND TO MY SURPRISE, THEY WERE ALL OF, I THINK, $300 AND A HALF, WHICH DIDN'T MAKE SENSE. SO I CALLED THE AUDITOR'S OFFICE AND ASKED THEM TO PULL UP THE PAGE, AND HE SAID, I CAN TELL YOU WHY IT'S ONLY $300. IT'S AN EMPTY LOT. I ABOUT FELL OFF MY CHAIR WHEN HE SAID THAT, AND ASKED HIM TO GO TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PAGE AND SEE WHERE IT SAID PICTURES, AND HIS VOICE CHANGED. HE SAID, WHERE DID THE BUILDING COME FROM? I SAID, CAN YOU GO UP WHERE IT SAYS BUILDING PERMITS? AND HE SAYS, IT'S BEEN THERE FOR TWO YEARS. AND MY QUESTION WAS, HOW DOES THE CITY NOTIFY YOU THAT THERE'S A BUILDING THERE TO BE APPRAISED? AND HE TOLD ME, HE SAYS THAT'S NOT MY DEPARTMENT, BUT I WILL HAVE THAT ANSWER WITHIN AN HOUR.

I THINK HIS VOICE CHANGED A LITTLE BIT. SO A WEEK LATER I WENT BACK AND IT SAID 3000 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING, PARKING LOT, PICKLEBALL COURTS, LANDSCAPING. BUT THERE WAS NO NUMBER. I WOULD LIKE ALL OF YOU TO GUESS WHAT THE NUMBER WAS FOR THE FIRST SECOND HALF, NOT INCLUDING PENALTIES. IT WAS $44,000. YEAH. AND JOE, WE APPRECIATE LIKE THIS IS ALL

THEY PUT THAT 58 ON THERE SO THAT IT WOULD BE TAXED AS RESIDENTIAL AND NOT COMMERCIAL. AND THE ZONING I UNDERSTAND IS PRICED DIFFERENT THAN IF IT WAS COMMERCIAL. THEY'D BE PAYING MORE TAXES.
