SO JUST THE FACT THAT WE'RE ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND THE COMMITMENT AND THE DEDICATION THAT THEY HAVE TO OUR EQUIPMENT. PARTICIPATING IN THE STATES PROGRAM ALLOWS US TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BULK PRICING THROUGH ODOT STATEWIDE CONTRACT, WHICH DELIVERS BETTER PRICING THAN WE COULD OBTAIN ON OUR OWN. THIS PROGRAM HAS HISTORICALLY RESULTED IN FAVORABLE PRICING FOR THE CITY. WE HAD A VERY ACTIVE WINTER SEASON LAST YEAR.
WE RESPONDED TO 21 SEPARATE WEATHER EVENTS, AND IN COMPARISON, THE YEAR BEFORE THAT WE RESPONDED TO 11. SO ALMOST DOUBLE THE RESPONSE TIME AND JUST TIME OUT THERE ON THE STREETS. THIS YEAR WE USED A TOTAL OF 2992 TONS OF SALT. AND JUST AGAIN, IN COMPARISON.
THAT'S ABOUT 1800 TONS THE YEAR PRIOR. SO LOOKING AHEAD, WE'RE RECOMMENDING THE PURCHASE OF 3500 TONS TO REPLENISH OUR INVENTORY AND PREPARE FOR THE 2025 AND 26 SEASON. OUR SALT BARN HAS A CAPACITY OF 5000 TONS, AND WE PLAN TO FILL IT JUST SHY OF THAT TO APPROXIMATELY 4800 TONS. SO THIS THIS RESOLUTION SIMPLY ENABLES US TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM AGAIN THIS YEAR. THIS IS APPROXIMATELY 450,000FT■!S OF DEVELOPMENT, AND THE EXPECTED PROJECT INVESTMENT IS $750 MILLION. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN MAY OF 2025 AND BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER OF 2029.THE BENCHMARKS FOR COMPLIANCE AND THE EXPANSION WILL BE MEASURED ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD FORMULA FOR THIS SPECIFIC BUILDING TYPE ESTABLISHED BY THE CITY AND PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL.
